Kylie arrives in Sydney

Kylie arrived in Sydney yesterday in advance of the launch of the Showgirl Homecoming Tour this weekend... and things are really hotting up! Full news round-up today.

Kylie touched down at Sydney airport yesterday to an expected barrage of media attention (photo above), but looked overwhelmed with excitement to be back on home turf and eager to take to the stage again after her eighteen month hiatus while treated for breast cancer.

“I’m thrilled to be back" she beemed. "I’ve been looking forward to this for such a long time. We've got a lot hard work ahead this week, but we’re on tour again! Woo-hoo!!”

Showgirl Homecoming is ready to go, and by all accounts we are in for a real treat! With rumours flying around regarding exactly what we'll be seeing, new elements to the show, cut songs and new covers, whatever we get is likely to be the most emotional show of Kylie's 20 year career.

The rumour that appears to have the biggest wings (so much so that it has made it into the US press) is the one in which Kylie will be performing a cover version of Madonna's 'Vogue', complete with dance routine. Already causing a furore amongst Madonna fans (Kylie and Madonna fans love a good bicker about their respective Queens of Pop), we're not at liberty to give away ANY facts about the show, as we all know there's nowt positive to be gained from spoilers, but rest assured that Showgirl has received one hell of a makeover!

In other news... Kylie graces the cover of not only December's issue of Autralian Vogue as previously reported, but also Marie Claire, and the last issue of the Sunday Herald's Sunday magazine, along with Elle magazine in the UK, which includes some stunning new photographs. Grab your copies now!

Kylie presented an award to six-year-old Katy Miles at the Pride of Britain Child of Courage awards last week, to be televised tomorrow night on ITV1 in the UK, along with Kylie's first TV performance, of Can't Get You Out Of My Head. Viewers will see Kylie, 38, meet Katy during a trip to London with her mum. She bursts into a room clutching a bunch of flowers and asks: "How about a little cuddle?"

Katy - diagnosed with a rare kidney cancer just after her fourth birthday - leaps up and throws her arms around her. Kylie laughs: "Hug me harder!" as they fall to the floor.

"Katy thought we were going to London to see some dancers." says the youngster's mum Louise, "Suddenly Kylie walked in. I said 'Katy, look over there!' I don't think she could believe it all. She was like a rabbit caught in the headlights."

Meanwhile, Kylie's new fragrance Darling is launched on Wednesday, with it hitting stores on Novermber 11th. A male fragrance is rumoured to be on its way also.

"Kylie has proven to be one of the leading celebrity entertainers," comments Steve Mormoris from Darling manufacturer Coty Beauty, about Kylie's A PLUS-list status in the UK, Australia, Asia, Europe, Canada, and select US cities. "She's a celebrity who reaches people of all socioeconomic specifications…She has strong appeal with three generations: women and men in their 20s, 30s and 40s. This is rare in the celebrity marketplace. Kylie is a musical artist, she's a beautiful woman, she's accessible and charismatic. All of these characteristics we know translate well into a fragrance."
